
CentER is celebrating it's 20th anniversary, in 2008.
The anniversary was formally celebrated with some special events, on Thursday 12 June 2008.

On this occasion, Dr. Nout Wellink, President of De Nederlandsche Bank, received an honorary doctorate. Preceding this ceremony, an event entitled "CentER: 20 years of top research" took place in the auditorium at Tilburg University. Participating speakers in this event were: Prof.dr.ir. Arie Kapteyn, RAND Corporation and Tilburg University, one of the founders of CentER, and Prof.dr. Mathias Dewatripont, ECARES, Chairman of the Scientific Council of CentER.
The academic meeting started with the honorary doctorate ceremony, followed by the annual Van Lanschot reading by Prof.dr. Benjamin Friedman, Professor of Political Economy, Harvard University. In his reading Professor Friedman focussed on The Moral Consequences of Economic Growth.
